Fancy afternoon tea at Big Springs Museum

Wearing hats, gloves and boas and conducting themselves as though they were invited guests at a palace in England, about 60 ladies of all ages enjoyed an afternoon tea at the Big Springs Museum in Caledonia on Sunday, May 17th. This was the first tea ever hosted at the museum though it is certain the occasion will come around again. The fundraiser was sold out for both afternoon sittings.

Patterned very similar to afternoon tea in England, grandmums, mums and daughters enjoyed scrumptious finger foods and delectable desserts in addition to hot tea and lemonade. A group of vocalists entertained their guests with a simple song in protest of British taxation of their beloved tea.

Morgan Bailey and Kelly Bailey, both of Geneseo, attend afternoon tea. The young ladies, dressed in pretty hats and elbow length gloves, say they enjoy the opportunity to be a little fancy for the afternoon.
